Talking to "People"

Nathan likes to talk on the phone. Whether it's on or off. He's good at turning the phone on, but not off. And he'll talk into it either way. He really enjoys getting on the phone when someone calls. As soon as he hears us talking, or identify the caller, he runs to the bedroom and gets the second phone from my nightstand. He'll turn it on, listen, and then start sharing about his day. Sometimes, he'll respond to the conversation. Just recently, Laura's friend called to tell us she was pregnant. When Laura answered the phone, Nathan had picked up shortly after her. The friend said, "Guess what?!!!" excitedly, and Nathan jumped in before Laura realized he was on the phone with "what?! what?!" We all got a kick out of that. Today, he walked into the room with the phone saying, "hello? hello!" (I could hear that annoying sound the phone makes when you first leave it on for a few minutes in the background). I took it away from him and asked, "Son, who are you talking to?" He replied, "people!" with a tone and look that said "duh, who else?" (sort of like this photo...)

I told him that was fine, as long as "people" lived within our local calling area!
