It IS Mommy!

Laura recently had sinus surgery, and was incapacitated for over a week. When she came home from surgery, Evan was not sure who our new houseguest was for several days. The houseguest slept on our sofa, sitting up, and sounded funny. They had a big bandage on their nose, and large bruises around the eyes. He was very clingy with me and kept the visitor at a distance. Over time, he seemed to realize that Nathan was calling the guest, "Mommy", and he grew more and more curious. Could it really be her? Several days after her return home, Evan ventured onto the sofa with her. Once there, Laura gently pulled him onto her lap where he laid his head against her. She was stroking his head, as she often does, when he hummed a few notes of a song she often sings to him. It was as if he was testing her to see if she was really his mommy. She began singing the song, and he immediately snuggled into her. Since then, he knows that, regardless of bruises and bandages, she's still his Mommy!
