inside-out (or vice-versa)
Nathan was playing with a paper towel roll tube. He was following all of us around, shouting through the tube. Whatever he had to say, he would YELL through the tube. Nathan has a healthy (LOUD) voice naturally, so yelling with amplification is mostly intolerable after about ten seconds. Finally, as he was following me down the hall (even more amplification there), I instructed him, "Son, if you're going to play with that tube, you need to use your inside voice!" He quickly replied, "Daddy, I am using my inside voice. It just comes out loud at the other end!" (his reply was accompanied by dramatic facial expression and hand motions, to boot!)
