Laura and I were in the kitchen preparing dinner. The boys were out on the back porch, playing. Ok, so we thought they were on the back porch, playing. There was a faint sound of crying, sort of Evan-sounding, but too distant for the porch area. Laura went out to check on things, and here's her story...
It had grown dark a little earlier, which is why we thought the boys were just playing on the porch - that's where the light is. Evan, however, had ventured out in the dark to the playset. He had climbed up the ladder into the fort portion, and was crying for some reason. (I don't know... maybe because he was in the fort in the dark all by himself and not sure what to do about it?) So, Laura hears him out there crying, but can't see him. She calls out to him and heads that way. Her eyes adjusted just in time to see him sailing down the slide - BACKWARDS - and tumble onto the ground with a back-flip. She returned through the door with Evan in her arms, tears on his shocked face, and dead grass all over him. I guess he figured a way to get down after all!
