On The Rise
The boys just get taller daily! We have several height markers around the house to help measure their progress. One is when they get too tall to walk under the doors on the television armoire. Both of them reached that point before they realized it, attempting to pass right under an open door and, CRACK! They had a sudden revelation that they were not as short as the day(s) before. Another measure is the distance of their reach over various counter tops in our house. When "out of reach" is not anymore, CRASH! Usually some cup or bowl of food, someone's phone or glasses, a razor (Ok, that only happened once with Nathan and thankfully he did not cut himself trying to shave his chin like daddy! Although he did have some razor burn for a few days. Suffice to say we learned a lesson!) Anyway... another measure (the one Evan has now reached) is elevation. Nathan has been known to stack a stool on a chair to reach "out of reach" items. Now, Evan is climbing onto anything and everything. He will climb up as high as he can get on boxes, furniture, toilets, guitar cases, plant stands, clothes hampers, walker, and even sleeping family members. He'll get to the top, stand up, then realize that he can't get down. That's when he starts fussing loudly until someone rescues him! It reminds me when, as kids, we had this crazy idea that climbing from our treehouse onto the roof and walking around on our house was "cool". (Until our parents found out!) I'm not planning on any treehouses that close!
