Nathan and I had a difficult day this past week. He was really pushing the boundaries, and I was not moving them. He was frustrated by my firmness that day, and as we got ready for bed, I was trying to end the day on a positive note... I pulled him close and tried to get him to look me in the eyes as he resisted. "Nathan, even though we've had a rough day, I want you to know I love you, buddy!" He pushed away, saying, "No sir, I don't!" "Naaaa-thaaan," I said in a sing-song voice, "I know you love me, pal!" He turned toward me, lowering his head and looking at me from under his furrowed brow said, "I do love you, Daddy. I just don't like you!"
Ouch!
